Emily passed away in 1996, but her impact continues. Her inclusion by Artsy is for “bringing renewed attention to phenomenal abstract painting from Indigenous Australian communities” and for her presence in ‘Desert Painters of Australia’, the major non-selling exhibition of Aboriginal artwork in the Gagosian Gallery.
We are proud to have been part of sharing Emily’s work through the Balarinji – Qantas Emily Kame Kngwarreye Dreamliner.
