‘Canoe Paths’ is a contemporary Balarinji design that pays tribute to the rich Aboriginal maritime history of Sydney Harbour.
The lines depict tracks across the Harbour where cultural groups and families paddled canoes on pristine water among migrating whales, and black cockatoos flew overhead; the circles are places on the Harbour foreshore where families gathered to cook their catch and share stories, as they passed knowledge from one generation to the next.
