The Connecting with Country Framework and Transport Plan is a response to a broader 20-year Pyrmont Peninsula Place Strategy developed by the Department of Planning and Environment (DPE).
The 2041 vision set out in the Place Strategy is to realise the Pyrmont Peninsula as an innovative, creative and cultural precinct connecting to surrounding precincts of Sydney Metro and complementing the Sydney CBD.
Balarinji provided a detailed Connecting with Country Framework that guided the Pyrmont-Ultimo Transport Plan project team in realising its goals of protecting the health and wellbeing of Country and embedding Aboriginal culture and narrative into the design of the built environment.
The Connecting with Country framework was developed based on engagement with the key stakeholders from the local Aboriginal community and in collaboration with small and medium businesses, Transport for NSW planners and the City of Sydney.
