Featured in the video is Master Weaver, Karleen Green, a Bunjalung, Munjarlie and Goojinburra woman living on Gadigal Country. Karleen brought with her a wealth of cultural knowledge and uplifting energy to the filming which helped to create a meaningful outcome.
For this project, The Being Group utilised Balarinji’s expertise to authentically express acknowledgement, and share cultural knowledge, while also sharing Ampol’s key messages.
Balarinji developed an overarching concept for the video. This concept captured the relationship between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and their art-making, paralleling this creative journey with the broader journey of cultural preservation, community collaboration, and reconciliation. It also highlights how each step in the artistic process is a reflection of a deeper connection to tradition, Country, and the collective journey of generations.
This video plays a significant role in Ampol’s commitment to reconciliation and recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and custodianship.
