The Building Designers Association of Australia Online Summit was held online on March 24 & 25, and brought together industry leaders and innovators from across Australia and the globe to explore sustainability and energy efficiency in design.
The keynote explored Designing with Country: how Country informs cultural design, emphasising the importance of co-design principles and the activation of authentic Indigenous voices in multidisciplinary projects.
Attendees were able to gain insight into how embedding Indigenous knowledge systems into contemporary design creates meaningful, innovative, and responsive places that honour the deep cultural narratives of the land.
With extensive experience in Indigenous engagement and design, Rosina Baumann and Johnny Bridges brought a wealth of knowledge to this discussion. Their work at Balarinji champions collaborative and place-based approaches, ensuring Indigenous perspectives are deeply embedded in design processes across urban, public, and built environments.
This session was an essential opportunity for designers, architects, and industry professionals to deepen their understanding of cultural design integration and its role in shaping extraordinary contemporary places.
Thank you to all who attended!
