Gumana’s beautiful imagery echoes the lily lagoons of her Country, where she paints at the Buku-Larrnggay Mulka Art Centre, Yirrkala Northern Territory. She was a National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art Award winner for bark painting in 2013, and her fine, meticulous work is collected by the Art Gallery of NSW and Charles Darwin University Gallery.
Northern Territory Airports commissioned Balarinji, to source, manage, manufacture and install the work for the terminal update.
Northern Territory Airports and Balarinji have enjoyed a long working partnership that has included the commissioning of public art precincts, urban furniture and interpretive signage at both Darwin and Alice Springs Airports.
